MISSING HINDU.
NO DEVELOPMENTS.
"MISLEADING STATEMENTS."
POLICE REQUEST IGNORED.
There are no fresh developments in connection with, the investigations being made at Taharoa by a party of nine police, who, are searching for the Hindu storekeeper, Delu Desai, missing since May 7.
Hundreds of persons have been interviewed in connection with the matter, and inquiries are not confined to the one locality. The dragging of the lake continues, a more modern method of sweeping with chains attached to boats now being employed.
Inspector C. W. Lopdell, officer in charge of the Hamilton police, stated today that misleading statements about the mystery of the missing Hindu were still being published. A statement that fresh evidence had.been found was incorrect, as clothes found in the sandhills were in the possession of the police early in their inquiries. The police had especially aeked newspapere not to publish information which was known, as i they would be hindered in their task. Some papers had not observed the police request.
