EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIP. (Received 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Seven of the world's leading amateur billiards players are competing in the Empire championship, which opened at the Town Hall last night. The New Zealand representative is A. Albertson. In the opening game between the title-holder, Robert Marshall (Australia) and A. M. Burke (South Africa), the scores were:—Marshall, 802 (including breaks of 115, 144. 103), in play; Burke. 390 (best break 83). The match will conclude to-night.
