CADETS SAY GOOD-BYE
JUNIOR LIFE BRIGADE. FIELD ORGANISER LEAVING. Seventy cadets. representing the junior division of the Girls' Life Brigade, met in the Sunday School Hall of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle this morning to bid farewell to Major E. Blenkinsop. field organiser for the movement. Major Blenkinsop, who has been in the Dominion for the past three months, will leave Auckland next Friday on her way back to England. Tlie cadets, whose ages range from six to 10 years, were inspected by the major in the Tabernacle courtyard, the seven companies later assembling in the hall, where several items were given by the young performers. The gathering was under the guidance of Miss Dora Eaiie, Commandant of the Auckland Battalion of the Brigade, assisted by Captain E. Blackburn. Captain D. Wilson, Captain Hampton, Lieutenants X. Rigden. X. Mellsop and R. Dawson, the latter being secretary of the Auckland Battalion. The other officers were Cadet-Lenders B. Croinbie, H. Sim. (I. Rogers. M. Bell. K. Wells, T. Jenkins and L. V. Jaeknian. Among the items given in a short programme were songs, flag drill, fancy marching and action songs. Two tiny cadets from the 10th Auckland Battalion presented Major Blenkinsop with a bunch of violets, and the 3rd Auckland Battalion gave her a green _N"ew Zealand' Maori ticket label and a paua shell nail file. In saying farewell to the cadets. Major Blenkinsop said she hoped to visit them again in a few years when thev would then be members of the senior division of the movement. The function was closed with prayer led by Commandant Earle.
