LANDSCAPE PLANNER.
HONOUR FOR MR. MAWSON. (By Telejrrnph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Cabled advice announces the election of Mr. J. W. Maweon, of Wellington, as a fellow of the Institute of Landscape Architects of England. Mr. Maweon is town planning officer attached to the Department of Internal Affairs. Before taking up his permanent residence in New Zealand in 1028, Mr. MuwHon was a member of the firm of Thomas H. Maweon and Sons, landscape architects, who, apart from numerous town planning and housing schemes in various parts of the world, have been responsible for the design and lay-out of more thnn 500 parks and gardens in the British Isles. Mr; Mawson, after receiving an all-round training in hi.s profession, decided to specialise in town planning, and his election as a fellow of the Institute of Landscape Architects is in recognition of his work in this field.
. Congratulatory messages from profpHoional contemporaries were received by Mr. Maweon to-day.
