RISE IN BUTTER
HIGHEST THIS YEAR. NEW ZEALAND AT 120/. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. The London butter market is firm, choicest salted New Zealand selling at 126/ per cwt. and Australian at 12") . 1 nsalted New Zealand and Australian are quoted from 126/ to 127/ per cwt. The price of New Zealand butter shows a rise of 1/ since the close of business last Thursday. Since the beginning of this month the market has been firm. Now Zealand remaining steady at 12.5/ for the past two weeks. Reports from London state that Continental supplies are now increasing with the approach of summer and the abnormally line spring, but it is not expected that the market will be flooded. The continued incidence of foot-and-mouth disease both in Britain and on the Continent should have an influence in limiting available supplies. Although more colonial butter has been received into store lately, stocks are still below the figure for this time last year. Consumption is good, retail rates being actually lower than wholesale prices justify.
