FIRST TRY OF SEASON.
The honour of scoring the first try of the season went to R. Marshall, of North Shore, who distinguished himself by scoring 10 of hie team's 13 points in the game with Marist. Wbjllans, the newly appointed Shore captain, stood out in a good forward game. 'Whillans, a fast and heavy man, impressed by several remarkable displays of dritofoling. He played against the •Springboks for Canterbury last season and scored the province's only try. OTHER FIRST DIVISION GAMES Orafton 11, heat >fanukan 3. Otahuhu 5, beat 'Varsity 3.
