"FOR MY OWN GOOD."

EARLY MORNING WALKS. "There is no need for this man to roam about the streets at night." said Sub-Inspector Flanagan in Ilie Police Court to-day, when a Dalmatian. Mark Rotica. aged 42. appeared before Mr. \\ . R. MeKcan. S.M., charged with being idle and disorderly and having insufficient means of support, on April 11.

He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within a month. The magistrate added: "If you stay with the Salvation Army and get a job I don't want to see vou again."

In a statement made to the police Rotica had stated that he had done no work during the previous three weeks. "Why have you been wandering about the streets at half past two and half st four in the morning?" asked Mr. McKean.

Accused: I was doing a bit of walking for my own good.

The Magistrate: Surely you can do that in the daytime while vou arc looking for work.
