SOUTHERN EXCHANGES
TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. BUSINESS RESTRICTED. MOUNT MORGAN SHARES EASIER. (By Telegraph.— Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Restricted business followed the long week-end break on the Christchurch Exchange. A main feature this morning was a slight easing in Morgan shares. Some banking shares lacked support, and there were very few quotations for Government debentures. Though National Banks of Sew Zealand looked better at buyers' £2 14/3, and New Zealands improved to inquiry at £2 3/3, the Australian group seemed easier. Breweries were in fair demand, but Tooth's dropped back to sellers at £2 15/10. Dominions were on offer at £2 0/6, and no buyers. Saturday's rates were generally maintained in the miscellaneous division. Drug shares had inquiry at £3 8/, and Dominion Fertiliser buyer's remained firm in expectation of an improvement in the dividend rate. Chain stores had a few sales. G. J. Coles recovered 3d, and McKenzies closed from I£3 10/ to £3 10/6. Woolworths were 1 steady. 'Apart from a loss of 2d in sales of Mount Morgan shares, the mining section revealed few interesting features. Rawang JTins were unaltered. Lyells had a market between £1 9/6 and £1 9/8, and Barrier shares were quiet. SALES RECORDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
