GOLF UNTO DEATH.

86,000 STROKES PLATED. LONDON, March 4. In 1922, Mr. George New, postmaster of Chilton Foliats, and Mr. W. R. Chamberlain, of Ramsbury, an exfarmer, .decided to play a golf match to last until one of them died. They played every Thursday, regardless of the weather. The match ended recently, when Mr. New, who was 66. died. He won by 1637 strokes. The trophy was a silver milk jug. An aggregate of 86,379 strokes was plaved in 814 rounds, Mr. Chamberlain taking 44,008, and Mr. New 42,371.
