CANDIDATE ANNOUNCED. Mr. S. S. Green, a member of the present council, is to be a candidate for the Mayoralty of Devonport at the elections in May. His chief concern in offering his services was to see that there was an infusion of business acumen into the affaire of the council, that the maximum return was obtained fur the expenditure of borough funds, and that a halt should be called to the mounting rate burden. He also stood fo; a comprehensive scheme, within the limits of the finance available, for footpaths and backward areas.
