WHAT AUCKLAND HAS TO OFFER Attractions On Every Hand. I It is often said of New Zealand that a great deal of its charm lies in the miracle that so small a land should have so wide a variety of attractions. This is certainly true of Auckland in the Christmas holiday period, for near 11 at hand and further afield a host of alluring holiday spots and entertainments lie open to the public. TROTTING GROWS IN FAVOUR.—"The ultimate in racing thrills" is I claimed by the Auckland Trotting Club for its 193 7 Summer Meeting, to be held at Alexandra Park, Epsom, on December 28, 30 and 3 I. The best collection of horses ever assembled at one meeting will contest exciting events at this fixture, principal events of which will be the Auckland Trotting Cup, the Champion Handicap and the President's Handicap. The Railways Department has again brojght forward an adequate transport schedule. MISSION BAY CARNIVAL. Much of the tremendous popularity of Mission Bay, a few miles along the waterfront rorpj, must stand to the credit of Messrs. Miller & Davey, who again this year are presenting a grand array of riding devices and amusements. The carnival season has already begun, and it will not end until February. BRIGHT HIS MAJESTY'S SHOW. The premiere success of the brilliant musical comedy, Over She Goes, now at His Majesty's Theatre, is sufficient indication that this venerable home of flesh-and-blood talent will be among the most popular entertainment spots of the season. The irresistibly funny George Gee is supported by musical comedy players of international repute. RACING AT NEW PLYMOUTH.—In these days of swift travel New Plymouth can by no means be classed as distant from the city and that is one reason for the growing popularity of the summer meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club. This year it will be held on December 27 and 28, and splendid fields are engaged. The Railways Department is providing convenient transport to and from Auckland. SPEEDWAY AT MISSION BAY. The thrills of motor racing are being offered at Mission Bay, the attractive seaside resort along the waterfront road, on the "Great Electric Speedway." At the Melbourne centenary celebrations 300,000 people shared these thrills in five months, and already Auckland is "catching on" to this new adventure. BROAVN S BAY LOCALITY FAVOURED.—Fed by a regular and efficient bus service, Brown s Bay and its neighbouring attractive beaches are places ideal for happy holidays. Sheltered and sunny, they are growing in favour, and all holiday and picnicking needs can be purchased in most cases on the spot. At Brown's Bay the theatre and cabaret provide evening gaiety. TRAINS TO STRATFORD RACES.—AmpIe provision is being made by the I Railways Department for the conveyance of racegoers to the Stratford meeting on January I and 3.
