Mr. H. H. Sterling leaves for Australia by the Awatea this evening. Mr. L. .T. Schmitt leaves for Sydney by the Awatea this evening. Mr. L. .T. Stevens left by the Limited express for Wellington last night. Mr. R. G. Nelson arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. Mr. AY. F. Bull was a passenger by the Limited express for Wellington last night. Mr. J. C. L. Hewitt. S.M.. left for Wellington by the Limited express last night. Mr. P. A. Godfrey Phillips, of London, is visiting Auckland, and is at Hotel Large n. Mr. F. P. Burlev. accompanied by Mrs. Burley. leaves for Sydney by the Awatea this evening. Mr. S. Lie, Consul for Norway in Melbourne. is a passenger for Sydney by the Awatea this evening. Mr. K. E. Xalder. of Auckland, left for a holiday in the South Island bv the Limited express last night. Mr. T. Poole, of Sydney, and Mrs. Poole, who have been visiting New Zealand, leave by the Awatea for Svdnev this evening. Mr. Stanley S. Scott, who arrived in Auckland on Sunday, will remain in the city for the next few days, returning to Wellington on Friday night by train! _ Mr. John Talbot, of St. John's ( ollege. Auckland, and formerly of Gisborne. has been ordained a deacon. His ordination took place at a special service in St. Augustine s Church. Napier. Mr. H. IL Herrick. for the past five years inspector in charge of the Land and Income office, Dunedin, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington, where he will occupy the position of officer in charge of the Emplovment Tax Office. Mr. P. J. Low. of Methven. was presented with the Bledisloe Medal for 1937 at the diploma day ceremony of the Canterbury Agricultural College. Lincoln. This medal Is presented each year to the, old student of the college who most distinguishes himself in agriculture.
Mr. E. Callaprhan. who was selected bv the New Zealand Government to studv veterinary science at the University of Sydney, will arrive at Bluff from Melbourne by the Jlamiganui on Sunday next. He will spend a holidar with hi"= parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Cailajrhan. of Burnside. Mr. who has .still a year of study to complete at the I niversity, has played Rugby football in Sydney with success.
