FORMATION OF TRADE GROUPS.
MANUFACTURERS' AFFAIRS.
"The year just ended has beea important and strenuous one ill th# history of manufacture in New Zealand— the operation of new legislation lu called for quick adaptation and resilience in business," states the 51st annnil report of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, to be presented at tke annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 24. The membership, which at the end of la-st year stood at 525, has be® increased by 35 new members, and there have been five resignation. Finances M® sound. The report says the representations have been made to the Government. and numerous deputations hw* waited on Ministers of the Crown, «* result of adverse conditions affecting particular industries. The Government, through the Prime Minister, the Bt Hon. M. J. Savage, lias promised to provide remedial measures. Nineteen trade groups have formed, and these are linked with similar groups in other centres, to *i® in better representation in matters affecting particular industries. Many questions relating to Customs tariffs have be* ll considered by the industries operating* 9 groups, and these in all cases have bee" investigated by the Customs or Industries and Commerce Departments. "0 1 * association holds it is most essential that trade groups in every industry should be formed, and that industry should be organised in readiness to meet any condition which may arise.
