(By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The spring meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club is being continued at Riccarton this afternoon in ideal weather. There is a large attendance and the track is in splendid order. Favourite Beaten. Fiord, Royal Grafton and Royal Amphora led over the first two obstacles ill the Port Cooper Brush Hurdles. Royal Amphora then drew clear, and had a lead of three lengths at Cutts' hurdle. Fiord dropped back at the mile post, where Royal Amphora was followed by Last Link, Silver Sight and Royal _ Grafton, the rest of the lield being ill fairly close order, except that Gold Boy had tailed off. Red Sun and John Charles were both moving up at the six-furlong post, and two furlongs further on Royal Amphora retired, Last Link taking charge, while Fiord put in a fast run which landed him ali/.igside Last Link. Going to the fiual hurdle, where John Charles, Red Sun and Silver Sight were also prominent, Fiord fell heavily, and Last Link went on to win decisively by two lengths. In a good finish for the places Red Sun beat John Charles by a neck, while Silver Sight was two lengths away, with Redolent and Superex next. Last Link carried £323 and £368 10/, Red Sun £553 10/ and £371, and John Charles £334 10/ and £304 10/. The Juveniles. The colours of Raeburn, Ortyx, Taurangi and On Call were first to become prominent in the Spring Nursery, Peerless being slaw to get going. Raeburn led On Call and Ortyx to the course proper, with the others hand}', while Peerlese was starting to make up ground. On Call, Taurangi and Eastern Heir were showing the way at the distance, with Peerless moving up, while Ortyx and Raeburn were drifting back. Taurangi drew clear a hundred yards from the post, and stalled off a late challenge from Peerless by three-quarters of a length. A length away, Eastern Heir beat On Call by half a length. Passaform, Raeburn and Romarin were next. Taurangi carried £670 and £592, Peerless £768 and £583 10/, and Eastern Heir £116 10/ and £223 10/. Results:— PORT COOPER HURDLES of £300.
