MODIFIED GERMAN SYSTEM.
PHYSICAL TRAINING FOR BULGARIA. SOFIA. At the invitation of tlie Ministry of Education and War, Dr. Carl Dim. the well-known German authority on physical training, has come to Sofia to organise a plan for physical training of the -youth of Bulgaria. He will remain two months, visiting educational and military centres in the country, delivering lectures and exchanging views with professors and teachers. Dr. Dim stated, in an interview that it was a mistake to apply a general rnle for physical training, as different methods were required for different countries. The strenuous physical training adopted in fJermany, for instance, was not suitable for the Bulgarian youth to adopt at the beginning. He suggested, therefore, a modified system, lt»s strenuous and more suited to local conditions, where, owing to the agricultural character of the country, over 80 per cent of tile population are peasants.
