NARROW NECK GUNNERS.
PURCHASE OF DISCHARGE. The resignations of gunners of the Royal New Zealand Artillery at Xarrow Xec-k was mentioned by Colonel R. Miles, officer commanding the Northern Command. in a statement yesterday, Colonel Miles, said that although it was quite correct that five men had purchased their discharge in order to enter civil employment, a step they were permitted to take any time within their first five years' service, it was incorrect t<> say that this action was taken despite an appeal l>y Major O.
