GUARANTEED PRICE.
CALLED INTO QUESTION. (By Tri«rrmph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", Tuesday. The guaranteed price for dairy produce is called into question in a printed petition which Mr. K. J. Holyoak (National, Motueka) presented to the House of Representatives to-day. Evidently the forerunner of many others, it is signed by two suppliers to a dairy factory and sets out fully the conditions under which guaranteed prices were fixed. The petitioners request that prices fixed for the current season be increased so as to afford a reasonable net return to producers for the labour of themselves and their families, together with some return for the capital invested by them in the industry, "and to enable the producers to maintain themselves and their f.imiKes in a reasonable standard of comfort." The petition was referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Conunittse.
