QUESTIONS FIRED.
SPENDING MILLIONS. THIRST FOR INFORMATION. SAWMILLS VOTE DIVISION. (Hy Telegraph. — Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. Tuesday. Millions were spent in a few short hours yesterday when the House of Representatives, on ■esiim'mg at 2.30 p.m. after the week end recess, tnride up leeway in its consideration of the Estimates. Members of the Opposition displayed nil extraordinary thirst for information, nnd Ministers in charge of the various Departments were bombarded with questions from all nngles. Fourteen classes of estimates were approved. These included the Post and Telegraph Department vote, the Navy, Army and Air votes, State Forests vote and vote.? for State Insurance con-ems. Tho Opposition moved an amendment to tho State Forest vote to reduce by £02,000 tho sum Involved in direct Statu participation in sawmills, and forced the House to a division that had the usual result. When tho House adjourned at 12.30 this morning another £0,430,561 in vote# had been disposed of.
