BEATEN BY S/VLFORD.
ELEVEN POINTS TO SIGHT.
AUSTRALIANS SCORE FIRST.
LONDON, October 31. Playing Salford, one of the strongest English club combinations, on a heavy, rain-soaked ground on Saturday, the Austral ian Rugby League team was defeated by 11 points to 8. Salford led by 6 points to 3 at halftime. Failure to get the ball from the scrums upset the Australian attack. Australia drew first blood, when after a fierce attack I'rigg secured the ball from Stebr and dummied his way across the line. Beaton iailed with the kick. A minute later in a loose dwbbling rush the ball went over the Australian line and Feetham scored. Risman failed to convert. Hudson was later awarded a penalty try, which Risman also failed to convert. Soon after the start of the second half Risman kicked* penalty goal. Another fine Salford movement ended in Edwards scoring. Risman converted. Meanwhile, the Australians were playing desperately.
