STEERS MAKE UP TO €19 7^ For tlie fifth week in succession beef prices showed a rise on the Westfidj fat stock market to-day, eclipsing last Wednesday's seven-year record. Ox *n up 1/ to 41/ per 1001b and prime cow* and heifer beef rose sharply to 40/ per 1001b. Not since 1930 have prices beet so high. Following continued short yarding 0 f fat cattle and increasingly attractive prices, a bigger offering came in to-day Keen bidding by a full bench of buyers again lifted values in spite of the wider choice. Steers offered were up to the quality, but cows and heifers included a large number of rough type. J OD price again went to the estate of late W. J. Ralph, Mahuta, a prime Shorthorn which made £19 7//J included in the two trucks forwardei The whole consignment of 16 averaawi £17 0/8 a head.
