NO FIRE ESCAPES.

AUCKLAND BOARDING HOUSES FIRE BOARD'S WARNING. "There are a number of boardiug houses and apartment houses unprovided with fire escapes that have taken no notice of our warnings," said Mr. W. L. Wilson, superintendent, at a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board this morning. "If they do not take action at once it will be necessary to select one or two of the worst cases and prosecute as a warning," he added.

Mr. Wilson explained that in some cases private houses had been converted into tenement houses, but no escapes had been built. All apartment houses had to have escapes, but the owners had ignored even the board's final warnings.
