MISS DUNCAN BEST. . ROUNDS OF 79 AND 80. SECOND EFFORT INCLUDES AN EIGHT. (By. Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) . - HAMILTON, Tuesday. The Wanganui player, Miss J. Duncan, who recently won the open ladies' championship at Rotorua, pla3 r ed two excellent rounds at St. Andrews to-day to lead the players in the qualifying play for the South Auckland championship. Off a five handicap she had the best cards in both the morning and afternoon and had she not taken an eight .at the thirteenth hole (bogey 5) in the afternoon she would' have broken 80 on each occasion. No other player bettered 80 on the day, though Miss V. Fleming, of Christchurch, a member of the New Zealand Tasman Cup team last year, carded 80 in the morning. She was only two worse in the afternoon, and this gave her second place, in the _ aggregates. Mrs. Ralph (Auckland), with an 81 in the afternoon, took third, place and won the second medal handicap. The morning medal handicap'•-vyus won by, Mrs. G. Ferguson, who played exactly to her handicap of 12.
