ANOTHER CHANCE.
REQUEST GRANTED. Admitting that he did not really deserve a chance, William Alexander Thompson, a labourer, who pleaded guilty to charges of mischief by wilfully damaging two motor car doors to the extent of IS/, and theft of two suitcases and a pair of gloves valued at £3. asked Mr. W. R. McKean. S.M.. in the Police Court this morning, t-o give him the opportunity of paying a fine and making restitution. Sub-Inspector Fox said the damage was done to the motor car in Victoria Street at 2.13 a.m. on August 19 while the owner was in a restaurant. The stolen property had been recovered. Thompson, who was too drunk to give any explanation, had already been dealt with for drunkenness. Thompson suggested that it wonld assist him if he was prohibited. The magistrate fined him £3. or one month's imprisonment, on one charge, and con\icted and prohibited Thompson for twelve months on the other. He was also ordered to pay for the damage done.
