MR. SAVAGE'S RETURN.
There ha's been something very cheery about Mr. Savage's return from the Homeland after one of the greatest experiences of his life. Those who have worked with him on social organisations know the intensity of his nature and the many ideal? lie cherished to give effect to long before lie became Prime Minister. Some of his words spoken in reply to expressions of welcome were that "one of the very first things the Government would do would be to pass a health in?-iranr-e scheme and national insurance schemes, the benefit of which would be reflected in every home." We seem to be near the realisation of this great piece of social legWation. which is long overdue, and transform the ideal intn •the real. for. after all. it is becoming more apparent than ever that the real is the i<leal if we look at it in the proper pcr«p?ciivp. We live in a beautiful world, nnd there has Ven given to us a great injunction. "Tear ye one another's burdens/' and when the new insurance schemes a fact they "ill •help to point the way. \Y. K. HOWITT.
