Golden Wedding.
MR. AND MRS. J. J. HART.
PIONEERS OF PUKEKOHE DISTRICT
During the week-end, two pioneers of the Pukekohe district, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hart, celebrated their golden wedding at their residence, Tobin Street, Pukekohe, when they entertained over 40 guests. Both have been residents , of the Pukekohe district for over 70 years.
Mr. Hart was born at Portadown, County Armagh, in the North of Irelanl, and came to New Zealand at the •ge of six years with his parents who settled at Pukekohe West. At that time Pukekohe was all bush country and provisions had to be carried from Drury through the bush track.
Mrs. Hart was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Turbott and was born at Pukekohe West, later removing to Harrisville. Mr. and Mrs. Hart were married at Harrisville by the Rev. E. J. McFarland on July 17, 1887, and took up their residence at Pukekohe West.
In 1920 they retired from active farming and, took up their residence at Pukekohe where both still enjoy the best of health.
Among those present at the celebrations were their two eons and two daughters, Messrs. J. A. J. Hart, Kati Kati; L. Hart, Pukekohe; Mesdames R. J. Reynolds, Patumahoe and C. H. Brown Pukekohe; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Hart left for a holiday at Kati Kati where Mr. Hart intends to enjoy a fortnight's shooting.
