LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL. MARISTS TO MEET MANUKAU. AVBTRAIJAK MATCH CURTAIN RAISER. At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, it wae decided that on Saturday City Rovers and Mount Albert would meet in the No. 1 ground curtainraiser to the Marist-Manukau feature, with the Poneonby-Kewton match as the early game on the other ground.

The New Zealand Council, acknowledging the offer of the use of Carlaw Park for the inter-Island match, either on July 24 or August 4 (the latter occasion involving free rental) confirmed Hβ decision to

abandon the fixture. It was felt th*t on the first date offered it would be inadvisable from a financial or sporting viewpoint to stage the game against the interaatiotnol Rugby Union attraction, while the August date would be inadvisable on account of the strenuous itinerary ahead, this from the aspect of players some of whom might be required to play four major matches in a fortnight. The council expressed appreciation of the offer of curtain-raisers for the matches with the Kangaroos, and asked that the curtain-raisers proposed be submitted for approval. The junior management is being consulted in the matter. Replying to a complaint made on behalf of the Otahuhu Club in regard to the rights of schoolboys, the Otahuhju school committee reported having adopted a resolution that it had no occasion to reconsider the matter raised in the Auckland Rugby League's letter dated June 18, as it had no jurisdiction over the actions of the headmaster in Any private capacity. The secretary (Mr. Ivan Culpan) advised that the board's letter on- the subject- to the Education Board had not been acknowledged. It was decided to write to the board again drawing attention to this fact. Transfers approved: — F. Pickrang (Friday) from Manukau to Ponsonby: G. Elbs (with re-grade to senior B) from Newton Rangers to Mount Albert. Clearance: G. Hamilton, Newton Rangers to Mariet Old Boys. Registrations: S. Bluett to City Rovers; S. A. and J. W.
