DEMAND FOR CITRUS. OTHER FRUITS DULL. HIGH PRICES FOR ONIONS. Demand was good for the citrue fruit offered at the city market* to-day, oranges, lemons and local marmalade oranges all selling well. Applee and pears, on the other hand, had a poor inquiry, and .hothouse and Island tomatoes were in poor demand. Tree tomatoee eold fairly well, but there was only a moderate inquiry lor hothouse grapes. A fresh shipment of Queensland pineapples wae landed by the Maunganui to-day, and a portion sold this morning at fair prices. Plentiful supplies of applee are being offered, including Jonathan, Delicious, Stunners and Balknats, but the demand is very quiet, Pears are in short supply, the main variety offering being Winter t'ol<*-, which are selling slowly at fairly high prices. Vegetables. Supplies of cabbage are still very heavy, good quality lines being a little tinner in price. Increased quantities of cauliflower are now coming forward, and the quality is much better than it wan a few weeke ago. Ample supplies of kumarae and pumpkins were available to-day at last week's price*. Fair quantities of good onions were available, prices being high. Carrotu, Biutksele nproute and parsnips were more plentiful and slightly cheaper. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry wae medium, and the demand was keen. The prices paid remain about the mmo.
