LEAGUE STAFF WORK. WELLINGTON PROFESSOR. ! NUW POLICY OPERATES. I i— - I (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON", this day. ; Professor F. L. W. Wood, of Wellington. will leave for (iene'a shortly at the invitation of the Secretary of the League of Nations, to attend the next meeting of the Assembly of the League and to act as a collaborator on the Secretariat.
I Professor Wood, who ha* been advised .by cable that an invitation from M. lAvenol. Secretary-General of the League, is coining to him by the next air mail, holds the chair of history at Victoria University College, and came to New I Zealand from tlie University of Sydney |to lill that chair two and a half years ■ ago. He is president of the Wellington I branch of the League of Nations Union, j During his stay in Geneva. Professor I Wood will have access to all meetings of the Assembly and of the Council of I the League, and will also teni]>orarily Uissist the Secretariat in the general! : work of the political section. He will! leave New Zealand at the end of July ior early in August, and will probably • be about six months. The appointment arises out of the , new jH)liev of the League Secretariat of inviting suitable individuals from iiiemher States to visit the centre of league ■ activities and make themselves ■ acquainted with the technique and proI>l ids and personnel of the international body.
