VERY ESSENTIAL.

COSTING IN INDUSTRY.

There has l never been a time in the industrial history of New Zealand when the need for complete and accurate costing systems in processes was aa essential Mr. P. E. Patrick, of Wellington, in an address to members of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association yesterday. The Industrial Efficiency Act and the establishment of the Bureau of Industry indicated that that was the case. He added that in hia opinion there was no, need, for manufacturers to become unduly worried about investigations into their activities by the bureau provided they could give a good account of themselves .in proficiency. If certain industries were not equipped to carry on production efficiently, then their controllers could not complain about the investigations. He did not think the Department would act harshly and would make due allowances when demanding costing details from industries.
