WELFARE COMMITTEE.

MEETING AT AV ONDALE.

Over £470 had been given for relief during the past year by the Avondale Welfare Committee, according to the .treasurer's report, presented to the annual meeting of the committee. Orders for coal, groceries and meat were in the vicinity of 3000. It was stated that no complaints had been received as to the method of distribution. The work had been carried on well and had been greatly appreciated by the recipients of relief. The following officers were elected: President, Rev. Father Colgan; chairman, Mr. W. Woddhead; i Mr. J. Williams; relieving officer, Rev. H. G. Goring; treasurer, Mr. A. 'Bromeley; secretary, Mr. Edward Wood.
