OBITUARY.

TEACHER AND MISSION ART. MISS MARION MOORE. (By Ttlegrapn.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON X., this day. The death occurred this morning of Miss Marion Moore, formerly president of the Manawatu branch of the Women Teachers' Association, and afterwards a Christian missionary in Jerusalem and Cairo, and an assistant at the soldiers' canteen at Ismailia, on the Suez Canal. Latterly she had been president of the Manawatu branch of the W.C.T.U., and (secretary of the Manawatu branch of the National Council of Women, and also connected with various Christian activities. Miss Moore was widely known throughout New Zealand, having been delegate to various conferences in several centres. She also held responsible teaching appointments in Otago, Poverty Bay, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, and North Auckland.

MR. HENRY WHITE.

An old resident of Birkenhead, Mr. Henry White, aged 87 years, has died. He had been' identified with the ferry service, as engineer on the steamers, from the early 'eighties until his retirement 13 years ago. He started with the Northcote and Ponsonby Ferry Company, of which Mr. E. ,T. White was manager, Mr. Littlejohn traffic manager, and Mr. Henry Alexander secretary. This company, which commenced operations after the sugar refinery at Chelsea was built, subsequently sold out to the Devonport Steam Ferry Company and Mr. White was transferred to that company's service. He had previously been on the Government Customs launch in the Kaipara. Mr. White left his birthplace in Kent, England, at the age of 12 years and engaged in seafaring, which took him to many parts of the world. Mr. White, whose wife died 20 years ago. is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William Lane (Epsom) and Miss A White (Birkenhead). There are three grandchildren and nine great-irrand-I children.
