INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL OXEHI'XGA DISTRICT SCHEME. t abinet has approved of a grant for the purchase of a site for an intermediate school in the Onehunga district, according to a telegram received yesterday by Mr. A. G. Oslnime, M.P. for Manuka u, from the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser. 'lhe suggested site comprises about eight acres at the corner of Trafalgar and Svmonds Street, Onehunga. about 300 yards from the tram line at Roval Oak. Hie school will receive the pupils in Standard \ . and \ I. from the Onehunga, Te Papapa. Koyal Oak and Mount Roskill schools, said the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. T. LT. Wells, this morning. There was also the possibility that the Mangere Bridge school would be embraced in the area to be served by the intermediate school. When the new school was established, all pupils would pass to it after completing their primary eihication in Standard IN . I nder the present intermediate school system the c.nirsc extended over two years., but scholars [ who were prepared subsequently to enter I upon a course of secondary education | could remain for a third year. The school would probably have a roll of between 700 and 800.
