CIVIC LEAGUE.

A meeting of the Auckland Civic League was held on Thursday in the rooms of the Penwomen's Club. In the absence of Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, Mrs. D. W. McLean presided. Letters were read bv the secretary. Miss Butler, from the Mayoress, Lady Davis, requesting their help in the collection for Orphans' Day. the National Council of Women, the Y.W.C.A. and the Health Department regarding the conveniences at the top of Howe Street.

A talk on the "Life Insurance Racket" was. given by Mr. A. C. Sainsburv, who explained that the variation of the surrender value lay at the root of sll the trouble.
