LABOUR PARTY.
CARNIVAL AT MANGERE
The Mangere East Hall was gay with streamers and balloons when a successful carnival dance was held under the auspices of the local branch of the Labour party. The duties, of master of ceremonies were ably carried out by Mr. Blair, and the supper arrangements were in the hands of the ladies' committee, comprising Mesdames J. Rose, G. Rose, Merriman, Priest, Blair, Cairns and Stewart. The president, Mr. G. Rose, presented £ trophies for novelty dances to the following:—Monte Carlo: Miss M. Webb and Mr. N. Campbell, 1; Miss Forbes and partner, 2. Spot waltz: Miss Tomlinson and partner. Among those present were: Mesdames H. G. Piper, Evans, Marflitt, Blair, Hancox, Cairns, Clarke, Carl, Knott, T. C. Brain, Stinton, W. Cooper, K. Karl, E. Hadfield, Taylor, H. Christini (Cambridge), Stewart, Priest, J. Rose, Merriman and G. Rose. Misses B. Woods, Z. Fisher, P. Urwin, M. Evans, E. Petrie, P. Johns, N. Johns, P. Petrie, E. Shore, Shippe, M. Webb, H. Fearnley, Priest, Stinton, G. Gardiner, J. Field, K. Cook, A. Field. V. Gubb, B. Dingley, K. Gubb, J. Heard, E. Williams, D. Hancock, B. Hancock, H. Tomlinson, E. Ball, K. Smith. B. Kerr. J. Hagan. Kay. B. Overend, E. Hadfield, J. Forbes, G. Wilkinson and B. White.
