FARM MANAGER'S ESCAPE. BURIED BY FALL OF EARTH, (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WARKWORTH, Friday. A narrow escape from death was experienced by Mr. C. Turner, manager of the Mangatawhlri Estate. Matakana, When Mr. Turner saw the landslide caused by flood erosion to-dav. When Mr. Turner sa wthe landslide he attempted to run to safety, but he was overtaken by the fall of earth, thrown to the ground and buried. Fortunately some shepherds noticed his coat hanging <>n a post and an investigation revealed his plight. When freed with spades and shovels, Mr. Turner was unhurt, except for bruises and shock. In one place the Pakiri Road has completely slipped away as the result of erosion, and on both sides of the Whansaripo Hill the Whangaripo Road Mnrk-fl. slip* also make the Aiiii.ua K impassable.
