TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. i i MARKETS QUIET TONE. INTEREST IN BREWERIES. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. With a quiet tone ruling on Exchange this morning price movements were mainly within narrow ranges. Metals, however, took another turn for the better, ;uid Electrolytic Zinc preferences were marked up 1/. Bunks remained close to yesterday's improved levels, Commercials selling unaltered at 18/7. Xev Zeulands were asked lor at £2 5/1, sellers £2 5/7. The brewery market again improved. New Zealand* had buyers at £2 127 and sellers £2 13/9. Contributiiigs brought £ I 17/ in their first sals, with further buyers at the same level, with no sellers. In the miscellaneous division Glass rose 3d to dealings at £4 11/0, after which there were buyers at £4 11/6, without selling response. Beath's 1/ paid shares were much tinner, with a market from 1/3 to 1/0. compared with sales a few days Utfo at !>d. Firmness was also"noted in Broken Hill Proprietary at £4 0/3, while Electrolytic Zinc (pref.) moved up 1/, to £2 17/, further buyers only Id below. The ordinaries were quoted from X' 2 14/7 to £2 15/3. Farmers' Fertilisers strengthened to buyers at £1 0/10, the nearest seller 3d above, and New Zealand Newspapers seemed bettej' with an inquiry at £1 15/9, sellers wide at £ 1 17, 3. Rights of Wool worths (N.Z., m<l.l. which sold yesterday at £4 11', had buyers ;;t £■! without a seller, while the ordinary shares were quoted, buvers £4 17 '<>, sellers £5 12/6. Interest in the unlisted section focused on Perpetual Forests coutributniii. which had their first sale for a very lonji time, the price being IS'6. with more wanted at that figure, sellers £1 1/.
