MORE MARRIAGES.
FEWER AUCKLAND BIRTHS. 1 SIX MONTHS' STATISTICS. More marriage licenses were issued for the first six: months of this year than for the same period last year. The numbers were 1406 and 1306 respectively. There were also fewer births and a greater number of deaths. Marriages performed by the registrar for tlie half-year declined in number from L'ilS to 288. while the number for the single month of June was also fewer r>4. compared with 57. Six more licenses wore issued last month than in June of last year, 220 compared with 220. Compared with the first six months last year, there were seven fewer births for the period ending yesterday, the figures being 1327 compared with 1334. For the one month of June the number of births registered was 241, compared with 211 last June. The increase in the number of deaths' in the past six months compared with last half-year was 41 —1002, against 961. Deaths in June were 197, which was 10 ' fewer than June last year. I
