SCRAP METAL FOR JAPAN.
The remnants of several old coastal steamer* are being shipped to Japan—in bits. Breakers armed with oxy-acety-lene burners have sliced iuto pieces the decks, plates, frames and miscellaneous parts of a number of hulks which were lyinji together alongside the* Western wall. Yesterday a thin metal shell, all that remains of the Apanui, was towed to the Central wharf with a cargo of oddments for Japanese buyer*.
