DOMAIN STATUE.

Two petitions bearing a large number of signatures and a letter from the pastor and secretary of the Church of Christ were received by the Auckland City Council last evening in connection with the statue over the gateway at the Auckland Domain, urging that the statue be made to conform with accepted eannons of good taste. The Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, suggested that the petitions and letter be referred- to the parka committee for a report, but the council earned an amendment to the effect that they be received.
