WORKERS' HOMES.
! QUESTION OF FAIR RENT. ACTION BY CITY COUNCIL. A decision to take steps under the Fair Rents Act, 1930. to have the rentals of the workers' homes iu Clarence Street fixed by the ■ Court was reached by the Auckland City Council last evening, on the recommendation of the property com 111 it tee. It was reported that the tenants of the homes had been advised that an increase in rental would be asked for this year, and the sum of 24/ was named as a fair rent. Five out of the lix tenants, however, had refused to sigu agreements to pay the sunt suggested. The rental for the houses was as high a# 27/ from 1927 to 1931, and was reduced to 21/0 in 1932.
