BUTTER PRICE PLAN.

AGAINST SPECULATION.

Primary producers' organisations in New South Wale* propose to launch a vigorous campaign to prevent speculators from upsetting butter prices by taking advantage of the recent defeat of the Federal marketing referendum. The main objective will be the retention of the Commonwealth Butter Equalisation Committee, which mav continue function by virtue of agreements with butter and cheese factories. "The responsibility of preserving an equitable system of marketing ha* now been thrown upon the State Governments and upon ourselves," said Mr. M. P Dunlop, president of the Primary Prooucers' Union. "It is impossible to say in just what way the State Governments will assist, but we have the assurance of the Governments of the three main producing States that they will do everything in their power to help. In the meantime we must depend on our own efforts. lam confident there will be no collapse if producers remain loyal to themselves."
