CREW SAVED FROM PERIL

The steamer Haiping, which sent distress messages when caught in a storm off the Queensland coast a week aso. was abandoned. The master (Captain L,. f. Laloe) and his wife and the officers and crew, 30 persons in all, were safe on board the A.U.S.N. freighter Mildura, to which they were transhipped in a high gale and raging seas. One of the Haipmg's lifeboats was smashed during the rescue work.
