AT WESTFIELD.
OX BEEF FAIR.
FEWER STEERS YARDED.
COWS AND HEIFERS EASIER.
Ox beef was in short supply at the Westfield fat stock sale to-day and, with a. full attendance of buyers bidding keenly, prices firmed on late rates. There were still plenty of cows and heifers, however, and in this section values were again easier. Some fine quality heifer beef was included in the yarding.
The beet of the small offering of steers were included in a line of 16 AberdeenAngus cattle fattened by Mr. H. E. Reed, of Waerenga, which sold from- £10 17/6 to £13 17/6. Twelve choice lightweight Shorthorn steers from Mr. J. R. Fels, Papatoetoe, sold from £10 10/ to £11 17/6 and a truck lot from a North Auckland dealer made up to £13 2/6. The offering of calves, though well up to the average, was smaller than last week. Demand was keen for choice veal, and prices were steady on the whole.
