OLD PUPILS' AHHTTAL BALLT.

WAIHI, Monday

The fourth annual dinner and dance under the auspices of the Waihi High School Old Pupils' Association, held in King's Hall on Saturday evening, proved a great success. Two hundred and fifty

guests were present from all over the province, the president, Mr. C. S. O'Neill extending a welcome to visitors and members. Apologies for absence were read from Messrs. H. T. Gibson and W. C. Morris, former headmasters.

Replying to the toast of "the school,' proposed hy the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wall nutt, the principal, Mr. F. R. Slevin, re ferred to the distinction brought to th« school by old pupils, mentioning particularly the names of Dr. Lesli< Grange, of the Department of Scientific »nd Industrial Research; Mr. Terr} Lockington, the school's first All Black ind two very young old pupils with dis inguished records, W. A. Pascoe and A ). Dare. The former is now a qualifier iccountant with the degree of Bachelo >f Commerce, and the latter is ai ispirant for the New Zealand milt championship. These ex-pupils typified he spirit of the school.

The first church parade of members of the association 'was hi-Id at the Presbyterian Church last evening, the building being packed. A welcome was extended bv the minister, the Rev. AMarshall, who said it was an inspiration to see present so many young men and women who were a potential power for good.
