CORONATION FASHIONS.
HO RED, WHITE AND BLUE
Women will not be dressed in the colours of the Union Jack's red, white and blue this spring or summer in London.
The reason is because women didn't want to wear blue frocks with white collars and red belts.
Fashion dictators who toyed with the patriotic motif in women's fashions have now toned their original ideas down to suit both the climate and their clients.
Evening gowns of St. James' rose, Holyrood green and Bnckingham lilac are among the fashion dictators' suggestion*. All are pretty, soft shades, becoming to both blonde and brunette. For redheads there is Coronation green and Georgian gold. Girls with raven-black hair are offered Indian orange. Shoes, gloves and handbags will be in Commander blue and white, while_ the smartest new hosiery colour is a pinky beige. For grand Coronation occasions, silver, gold, black, white, Coronation red and blue, as well as Cardinal red and Garter blue will be seen in the shops. Real flowers will be tinted to match thp colour of Coronation frocks. Purple velvet and purple silk will not be shown for general wear until after the Coronation, as the fashion dictators declare that other women should not use this royal colour until the autumn season.
