THEFT OF ELECTRICITY.

SHAREMIUCER'S OFFENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. A case of interest to electrical supply authorities and power boards was heard in the Magistrate's Court to-day when Charles Henry Jeffs, .a sharemilker, was fined £10 on a charge of stealing electricity valued at 5/ from the ManawatuOroua Power Board. Evidence showed that when an inspector called at the house he discovered two lengths of wire so arranged in the fuse sockets on the meter board that accused drew current for the electrical range from the hot water circuit, for which he paid a low fiat rate. Accused gave evidence that he used the wire because two fuses had blown, but the magistrate pointed out that one piece of wire was so long as to be cumbersome as a fuse, but it required to be that length to bridge one fuse to another.
