AN EXPENSIVE GAME.

DETECTIVES SCATTER CROWD,

The game of two-up played by Patrick Evans and Daniel Stevenson on Queen's Wharf on January 28 proved a most ex.|>ensive one for each.

Both men were charged on summons in the Police Court to-day with playing •a game of chance.

Detective Mahood gave evidence that with another detective he found a crowd of over 100 men in a two-up "school" on Queen's Wharf, between sheds 14 and 13. at 5.40 p.m. on January 28. "There was a general scatter when we arrived," he added. "We seized 11 dice. Both these men had taken part in the game. Evans was fined £3 by Mr. C. R. OrrWalker, S.M., while Stevenson was fined £3.
