LAWN TENNIS.

RODNEY CHAMPIONSHIPS. MISS E. REMIGER DEFEATED. The Rodney Lawn Tennis Association's annual three-day championship tournament was commenced on the Warkworth Club's courts yesterday. The weather was fine but windy, and there were muny occasions during the progress of matches that players lost control and accurac*y on account of the wind. However, the standard of play generally was high. The courts are in splendid order, and there is improved competition in the majority of events. PUTARURU'S NEW CHAMPIONS

The Putaruru Lawn Tennis Club has two new champions, as a result of the defeat of last year's men's and ladies' singles champions. Scores in finals; Men. —L. Blake beat T. Pearce, 6—l o—3. Ladies.—Mrs. X. Spraggon beat Mrs G A. Pearce.
