POST-PRIMARY SCHOLARS.

GRADING OF SCHOOLS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WEMJXGTOX, Thursday. A number of important decisions concerning the grading of post-primarv schools and free places in these schools were revealed by the Minister of Kduca-j tion, the Hon. I'. Krasor, in an interview to-day. I suallv the grading of secondary, technical and combined schools, secondary departments, district high schools and intermediate schools and departments is determined by roll numliers on J March 1, but this year March 15 will lie substituted for the usual date, except in the case of schools opening later than March 1, these being graded 14 days after the respective opening dates. Jn the case of the grading of schools affected adversely through pupils find-' ing positions owing to delay in the opening of such schools, no general relaxation of stalling regulations will be made, each case being considered on its merits. It has been decided to continue the concessions that have lieen granted to fee-paying pupils in all types of Government postprimary schools. Approval lias also !>ecn given of the extension of junior free places for an additional year in the case of those pupils who failed to secure senior free places in 1 !Kj(i. also of the extension of senior free places beyond the end of the y«ar in which the holders attain the age of 10 years, provided that in both cases the parents are unable to provide the necessary fees for the tuition of a child after the expiry of | the free place.
