AWATEA FOR OVERHAUL.
TRANS-TASMAN SERVICE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Union Steam Ship Company announced to-day that the Awatea will withdraw from the trans-Taeman service in May, and will lay up at Sydney for overhaul and will re-enter the service at the end of July. TJie Maunganui will maintain the service while the Awatea is laid up.
During May the Awatea was scheduled to commence the winter time-table —that is, revert to fortnightly sailings from Sydney to either Wellington or Auckland—and the Maunganui will maintain this service. The Maunganui i* due at Wellington on Saturday morning from Sydney, and will then lav up until she replaces the Awatea.
